LGPMS UTILIZATION IN THE PROVINCE OF ROMBLON

For the year 2007, the 17 municipalities of the province revealed a performance within the benchmark in three performance areas which are Administration, Social Services and Environmental Management. Governance and Economic Development rated below the benchmark which means performance is poor.

Having a HIGH performance in Social Services is only Concepcion, Odiongan had a HIGH performance in Environmental Management and Administration. San Agustin had HIGH performance in Environmentak Management. Alcantara and and Banton had a GOOD performance in Governance. Municipalities which had GOOD performance in Administration are: Looc, San Agustin, Sta. Fe, Corcuera and Alcantara. For Environmental Management following municipalities had GOOD performance; Looc, Banton and Cajidiocan.

Performance in Economic Development of Municipalities (except Odiongan and san Andres which are on the benchmark) are below the benchmark. Our muncipalities have to put much effort yet to lift up the economic situation by giving attention to this performance area, However, these ratings are only dependent on the data given by the different departments in the local govetnment units. They may not be rated fairly or right because most data are not available or not provided by the different departments. Absence of data therefore is one reason for low performance in the different areas.

Results also showed that most LGPMS Teams are not functional and most State of Local Governance reports (SLGRs) are prepared by the MLGOO;s if local government units desire excellence in local governance, then give LGPMS a chance.
