SEC ROBREDO OF DILG GRACES THE GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY OF ROMBLON PROVL. HOSPITAL

Odiongan, Romblon- October 18, 2011- At about 12:10 PM the plane landed at Tugdan Domestic Airport with Sec Robredo of the DILG and Sec Ona of the Dept. of Health. They were met by Gov. Eduardo "Lolong" Firmalo, Vice Gov. Mel Madrid, the officials of DOH Provincial Level, the DILG Family led by Asst. Regl Dir. James Fadrilan and OIC/Provincial Director Johnson Fopalan, PD Leo Tumolva of PNP, Fire Marshall Benjie Caca and Jail Administrator Lino Soriano. A lunch was sponsored by the Provincial Government of Romblon at Sato Dizon Hotel. Immediately after lunch an interfacing was held with the Mayors, Sangguniang Panlalawigan officials, Sangguniang Bayan and Barangay officials of Odiongan. The Secretary gave the Performance Challenge Fund cheques to Mayors who were recipients of the Seal of Good Governance like Mayor Bong Fabella of Calatrava, and Mayor Faderanga of Banton.

In his speech, Sec Robredo, pointed out the requirements of Seal Good Housekeeping, a program of the DILG which awards one million pesos to municipalities that meets the criteria of good housekeeping and 3 million for the provincial government. A short open forum was held, but Sec. Robredo entertained and answered only about 5 questions from the Mayors and one from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan due to limited time. The last was from Provincial Dir Johnson Fopalan wherein he lobbied for the repair of the Provincial Office of Romblon.

Immediately after the short forum, the Secretary went to the Ground Breaking Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting at the Romblon Provincial Hospital Odiongan, Romblon.

The two secretaries were invited by the Provincial Government of Romblon headed by Gov. Eduardo Firmalo to grace the Ground Breaking Ceremony. DILG-MDFG/MDFO-DOF WATER PROJECT IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF FERROL

The Municipality of Ferrol has conducted the Inauguration and Blessing of Ferrol Water System which was held during the Municipality's 33rd Fondation Anniversary last JUNE 11, 2011 at Brgy. Poblacion, Ferrol, Romblon.

Rev. Fr Joey Q . Valencia (RC) made the blessing followed by the cutting of ribbons by Honarable Congressman Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona assisted by the Honorable Mayor Jason M. Fabila and witnessed by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members, OIC APD Danton R. Arevalo, Punong Barangays & Barangay Officials, National & Local Officials & Employees of the Municipality of Ferrol.

The Improvement and Upgrading of Ferrol Water Supply System (Level III) is a DILG-MDGF loan assisted project under the DOF-MDFO in the amount of Php7,051,501.44 and construction started August 12, 2011.

The installation of water meters started last May 25, 2011 to 240 households in Barangay Poblacion. To date the LGU still awaits the results of water testing for the operationalization of Water Chlorinator to have a potable water.

MANILA-MARCH 12, 2010 The Local Government Academy (LGA) bestowed DILG Romblon an Award on Environmental and Disaster Risk Management Advocacy for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation on March 12, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasay City.
Present to receive the award were Dr. Merian C. Mani, the Vice-President for Research in the Romblon State University and the proponent of the project together with Dr. Jeter Sespene of the University. DILG Region IV-B Regional Director Rolando Calabazaron, and the Assistant Regional Director, Jonathan Paul M. Leusen, Jr. who is the Concurrent Provincial Director of DILG Romblon were also there with Mrs. Anita Gadon of the Operations Service Section to represent the Provincial Office.
The Romblon State University and the DILG Romblon are partners in a common goal of safeguarding the environment. Implementation of the project starts this March 2010 and the launching was done on February 14, 2010. The launching activity was named “An Affair with Nature” and this was attended by more than two hundred (200) participants from the different government agencies, the local officials of Odiongan and other municipalities and of course the students and some faculty of the Romblon State University. A tree planting and clean up drive followed after the parade around the town of Odiongan.

HAND HELD RADIOS FOR DILG ROMBLON

July 29, 2009, Odiongan, Romblon- Communication is a very important aspect for the successful operation of an agency, department or institution. The geographical location of Romblon, mainly constituted of island municipalities greatly affects the efficiency of various operations resulting to delays in the completion of different programs and activities of the department.
The acquisition of communication gadgets (handheld radios) will alleviate communication barriers and facilitate the transfer of important information in a less expensive manner which will further improve the performance of the province in the long run.
This endeavor was made possible through the generosity of Usec Bernie G. Fondevilla of the Department of Agriculture by providing a brand new set of communication equipment for the exclusive use of DILG-Romblon.

The said equipment was turned over to the department via a short program held on July 29, 2009 at the Rencios Restaurant graced by Usec Fondevilla wherein all fieldmen were given one (1) unit of handheld radio. As a token of appreciation, a plaque of appreciation was handed over to him by ARD Paul Leusen, Jr, Concurrent Provincial Director of DILG Romblon. DILG ROMBLON TEAM ACQUIRED COMMUNICATION GADGETS TO MITIGATE COMMUNICATION GAPS AMONG ISLAND MUNICIPALITIES

Odiongan, Romblon July 21, 2009 - The DILG Romblon Team has just acquired sets of communication equipment thru the efforts of USEC Bernie G. Fondevilla of the Dept. Of Agriculture. Technical Services Chief Ronald F. Gayahan proposed the project, communication problem being one of the deficiencies of the province. Communicating via two way radio is of great help to limit the use of cellular phones. Thus communication can be very speedy and free of charge. The system will make use of a repeater VHF station at the top of Santa Maria Triple Peak, Gayahan coordinated with the KABALIKAT CIVICOM member with a callsign of 43 at San Agustin Romblon and Knightrider of San Fernando, (SIBUYAN) Romblon for the speedy installation. Stations with hand held radios can communicate directly to the Provincial Office anytime from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for the latest development of the Department, and people who need emergency help can be airlifted immediately. Farflung municipalities like Concepcion Romblon (SIBALE) can also be reached thereby making the data and communication a speedy one.
